Cross Pendants Are Fast Becoming Kim Kardashian’s New Style Signature

Apr 07, 2024

Having curated Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2023 collection and starred in the house’s most recent campaign, a front-row cameo from Kim Kardashian seemed all but inevitable at Milan Fashion Week. The theme of the Italian brand’s autumn/winter 2023 collection? “Sensuale,” with lingerie-as-eveningwear competing with prim-and-proper tailoring for dominance on the runway.

If Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s lace-and-leather proposition consisted overwhelmingly of monochrome and metallics, The Kardashians star appeared in a siren-red look. (A wallflower, she is not.) “I have this futuristic alien Barbie personality, which I like,” she told reporters of her personal aesthetic at a press conference back in September. “But in my soul I feel very sensual Italian mob wife at the same time.”

For her visit to the Metropol in Milan, Kim leaned into the latter persona – complementing her crystal-studded bustier and maxi skirt with vampy scarlet nails and two cross necklaces. The latter have proved something of a favourite with Kardashian recently, with the star purchasing Diana, Princess of Wales’s Attallah Cross at a Sotheby’s London auction.

Despite being one of the most-followed influencers in the world, Dolce and Gabbana credit the Skims mogul’s interest in their archives with helping them reset their design focus this season. “Working with Kim helped us to go back to our heritage, our memories, what we did in the past. And to analyse what we did,” Domenico told Vogue in a preview. “Social media exaggerated everything. Now, everything has to be strange – too much. I want to go back to what we really are.”
