Summer is a busy time for high jewelry unveilings—here, we take a look at some of the best and brightest from the Paris presentations and beyond.

A bevy of new jewelry collections have recently debuted, whether in private presentations or alongside the couture shows in Paris earlier this summer. From historical nods to jewelry-rich eras to forms that celebrate nature to pieces that require a second look because of their transformability, we're sharing the most beautiful and interesting collections from the latest reveals. Here, the best and brightest new pieces from luxury jewelry brands.

In Paris earlier this month, the American jewelry brand David Yurman debuted its Genesis collection. Designed by Evan Yurman to celebrate the elemental beauty of the natural world, these Dianthus drop earrings feature South African green beryls (with each weighing in around 28 carats) set in sculpted aluminum and mimic the flowering shape of the carnation, which was often used in Greek ceremonial crowns.

For her tenth high jewelry collection, Valérie Messika revisits the glitzy, glamorous nights on the scene of the 1970s with her Midnight Sun collection. Think crazy, star-studded evenings at Studio 54, but with a dosage of heavy-hitting gems. Here, cushion-cut yellow diamonds in this snow setting (a first for the brand) shine anew like the disco balls of the era.

The storied Italian jewelry house Buccellati recently released its Mosaico collection, pulling cues from founder Mario Buccellati's designs in the 1920s. The collection, comprised of 50 pieces, pays homage to the color palettes and silhouettes of glass paste tesserae of Byzantine-era mosaics.

"I thought of resuming the exercise that was my father's, and before that my grandfather's, of looking at the great works of the past that could provide a strong inspiration," says Creative Director Andrea Buccellati. "Byzantine mosaics have been a great help to me: the golden backgrounds, the geometric decorations that are never taken for granted, the stylization, the colors and that particular light that permeates the surface and abstracts it. It is a continuous magic."

Taking its inspiration from the iconic grand tour adventures young aristocrats undertook during the 16th century, Van Cleef & Arpels's latest high jewelry collection boasts a bevy of Renaissance-esque jewels. 70 new pieces—including girandole earrings, micro-mosaics, and vintage cameos and intaglios—all come together in this collection to evoke a sense of ancient luxury. The magic and mystery of travel come alive.

Here, Claire Choisne's new high jewelry release for Boucheron celebrates all that is fantastical and extravagant about high jewelry—without any of the usual constraints. Oversized silhouettes, interesting colors, and optical illusions marry to create almost pop art-like jewels—like in these clothes pins (featuring citrine, onyx, black lacquer, and diamonds) that can transform to studs or drop earrings.

Paiget brought to Paris its new Metaphoria collection, which celebrates the maison's commitment to celebrating the vivid and exuberant colors and patterns found in nature. Just like Yves Piaget's 1969 collection featured ornamental stones fashioned into high jewelry, this collection takes a playful approach to ornamentation—like with this diamond and sapphire secret watch that opens and closes with a cabochon-cut aquamarine.

Influenced by the Scottish landscape that inspired Coco Chanel during the 1920s, the latest high jewelry collection Tweed takes its name from the Tweed River that flows through the Scottish Border. Patrice Leguéreau looks at the iconic fabric again for the second time in high jewelry—63 new pieces, like these Tweed Byzance earrings set with yellow beryls, are expertly crafted to mimic the weave of the jackets that Coco Chanel donned so chicly.

Pomellato's fourth high jewelry collection—entitled 'Ode to Milan'—explores the vibrant Italian city that gave the brand its birth. This year, the brand is also celebrating Creative Director Vincenzo Castaldo’s 20 years at the helm of the brand. Here, the Giardini Verticali necklace harkens to the plush velvet interiors of Milan's most grand houses. Indicolites sparkle against oversized links in rose gold set with diamonds.
