Season 2: “And Just Like That” Lots Of Necklaces Were Worn

Sarah Jessica Parker has created her fair share of trends with the help of the costume designers, first on HBO’s Sex And The City, the two films that proceeded the series and the first season of the reboot And Just Like That, which streams on Max.

Now, the reboot, in its second season and the 9th episode with only two more to go, SJP’s jewelry isn’t as much creating trends as it did during the HBO series; rather, it is in tune with them. Perhaps this is because Molly Rogers (who worked on the SATC series and movies with the original costume designer Patricia Field) and Danny Santiago have been scouting independent designers for SJP, who has killer jewelry instincts in her real life.

Rogers and Santiago have continued the tradition of finding emerging designers for the SJP character of Carrie Bradshaw. The actress and the dynamic duo costume designers have styled jewels that have grown up with her. Some are even pieces that were worn in the first season. But in the 2nd season of the reboot, she is wearing similar pieces to what we are seeing on the runway, online and in more directional jewelry shops. Will Carrie ever wear pieces again that send women out flocking to buy certain jewels like nameplate yellow gold necklaces and hoops, multiple diamond horseshoes pendants, ropes and ropes of pearls or delicately drilled diamond necklaces, among other trends? Time will tell, but I do think what Carrie is wearing in the 2nd series is exactly the type of jewelry other women want to wear or are already wearing: layered pendants and necklaces, in particular, multiple bracelets, hoop earrings and what feels like personalized rings.

As for the rest of the cast—they all have identifiable looks, which has always helped to define their different personalities on the show and still does.

But for now, let’s look at some of the jewels Carrie wears in different scenes and episodes during the 2nd season.

Emily P. Wheeler’s Wrap Bead Necklace is silk knotted and is crafted in 18K rose gold, pink sapphire, morganite, white agate, conch shell, pink opal, pink enamel. She is wearing a shell pendant in between the doubled-up beads. Below the necklaces are complemented by Silvia Furmanovich’s blue topaz floral marquetry stud earrings.
